i just ate the last of my imported Timbits. it's always a debate - gorge myself the first couple of days back, and then not get any for a long time, or try to stretch the junk food goodness for as long as possible, but risk it going stale. i thoroughly enjoyed the whole box of them... good decision, self!

why do trees grow canopies? and why are the bottoms of the canopies so flat?

is the treeline creeping north yet? i wonder how the canadian shield will impact the growth and spread of trees north... because a lot of places there are no trees for reasons other than permafrost - exposed rock, swamp, and such don't really support trees. and then, there's a great distance between existant trees that grow in those conditions and the newly available regions where they could grow. you understand what i mean? just thinking how the arctic is going to change in the next thirty or so years, especially if global warming accelerates. which it will once the ice caps are melted. how cataclysmic can one post get?!

get this: school was cancelled today because there were new years' activities going on in the school gym until 6 am today. so it was assumed that no one would be at school today, so they cancelled it. i am happy, because now i have the time to settle back in and clean up the mess in this house. i should have gone in to work anyway, just to get that place organized and get ready, but i really felt like i needed to care of the home space first.

Fiona is big. i can feel puppy growth in her belly. she has become a big suck, more than ever, and wants to cuddle all the time.
