herby

well, played some cranium with some of the teachers and spouses this evening. fun and games, boys and girls. fun and games. the card game was called due to illness.

i took the pups on a crazy-long walk this afternoon. fiona's not so close that she didn't want to bounce along after nalu. she's gettin big though. her milk glands are really starting to bulk up. and she whines when she's hungry now, which she never did before. i should have taken my camera... we went far enough that i could have got the town and the fabulous mountain-breaks all in one shot, complete with ice-cream swoops of snow and pink and purple clouds. it's ridiculous how fairy-tale-like my world looks. just goes to show, you can't judge a town by its postcards.

i may have gotten some frostbite on my face - the little cheek-patches on either side of my nose. two little patches of slightly puffy sking when i came back in. but they weren't white, cold and stiff, and the skin isn't hurting now, so likely i just came really close. you'll all still be my friends if i have battle-scars from frostbite, right?

it is so cold that the air doesn't move (unless there is wind). i realize that sounds stupid, but think about it... in summertime when it is stagnant hot, you still get a slight breeze when you walk. the the air here is so cold, that it's like there's a bubble that just moves with you. example: i wore my jean skirt tonight, but the air under the skirt stayed warm while i walked... there's no swirling of air at this temp. of course, then the wind picked up and so i hurried.

yo! spidey! i'm gonna call you spidey from now on ... or maybe i should call you ivy ... or itchy ... hmmm.

you wore a jean skirt in the arctic? you brave, brave woman. had it been me, i think i might have wrapped myself in one of those down-insulated mummy-type sleeping bags the minute i got off the plane ... and i would never take it off.

*blows on finger tips*

the heat gets fixed tomorrow.

oh, did you know in the frigid weather the scary automatic seatbelt in the car is *really slow. it takes about five minutes to get out of the car once you open the door because moves like molasses. i've taken to 'assisting' it along ;p

um.. yeah. i meant to warn you about that.

don't help it too much... i almost broke it last winter by "helping"! but it seems to be just about done up by the time i would get up to any speed. and the longer there is heat in the cabin, the faster it goes.

and i like to think how brave and stupid are so close on the spectrum...
