chafe

another day, another walk with the dogs.

i found a beautiful secret spot (i don't think any of the teachers know it) just past the end of the runway. it's an island you can only access during low tide. it is full of these enomous rocks that look like huge teeth, worn and weathered from the sea. beautiful. the dogs and i spent a wonderful hour exploring it and looking at the colours and shapes, wishing we'd brought the camera. spell-binding.

the coast guard ship was out that way, too, and we got to watch a helicopter take off from the icebreaker and fly into the park. it was pretty cool! tomorrow the whole school is going on a field trip onto the boat to take a tour. so I only have to plan for the morning.

i am excited about my secret island. there are so many times when i just want to escape from town. and while i can see town from my island, and people in the town can see me, it isn't my end of town, so i feel a bit more free. and i can always go to the other side of the island where i am hidden from view by the tooth-rocks. the whole island feels very lord of the rings to me - in a good way.

when we arrived home from our walk, we saw that the crates had been delivered from off the boat. yay! i was so exhausted, but managed to open the crate with my hammer, and unload it all into the house. i have a lot of food, but i will probably still run out. imagine that, anne! i think wingman and i will need to change the way we do food. right now we are splitting the food costs, but he eats way more than me, so it's hardly fair. i think i would prefer we did separate everything, foodwise. am i getting anal? i wonder if i'm just digging my heels in because he's so assumptive (? is that a word?) and bossy.

I am so happy to have my crate. if only i had shipped some booze. just kidding ;)

Hooray! A crateload of stuff to cuddle up with. Stuff here, stuff there, stuff, stuff, everywhere.

If W eats a lot more than you, you shouldn't go 50/50 on food. Just don't get into a situation where you're stressing out over meticulous accounting of who has used how much toilet paper etc.

If W is patronizing in the way that H can be (though of course H is much younger, and it's born of inexperience in his case I assume), then damn. No wonder you're wanting some time off.

Are you finding that you're able to assert your claim on the common space in the house, or are you spending most of your time in your room?

I'm glad that you've got a secret island. :) I want pics. Will it be accessible in the winter too, or will the weather be bad enough to prohibit you going out that far?

We had Txgvg dinner (tofu, stuffing, pumpkin pie, guacamole and chips) and watched Slapshot. Yes indeedy. Town was completely quiet today, few people on the streets even though the weather was gorgeous. (almost t-shirt weather) Eerie.

patronizing might be the right word. i don't think it's intentional, usually, i think he just thinks he actually knows more (and better) than me.

there will be pics of my secret island, but probably not until the weekend.
