i think i know why people become gardeners more as they age. they're fighting entropy. oooh.. so deep and mystical. but for real, i think that's it. some people love flowers and attractive places to live, and they garden all through life. some people only grow into it later in life.
i hated gardening when my mom would make me help her. i always felt like i was going to pass out. similar to the feeling i still get in shopping malls. i instantly dehydrate and lose all my patience. i'd rather do without something than go into a mall.
i'm reading Lullabies for Little Criminals today. i'm nearly finished, but i can't bring myself to finish it, because i'm afraid of what Baby is doing to herself. she just got hooked on heroin and is turning tricks. i wasn't really worried about her until now. she's a smart girl, but heroin is stronger than smart, from what i've heard. I really got pulled in, and now I need to process.
another potluck tonight... we played pass the pigs. i actually won a round. it was cool.
is kybosh a word from another language, or an english word, or is it an acronym like KYBO (which every good boy scout or girl guide should know stands for Keep Your Bowels Open)? Thank goodness for acronyms, because bowel is just such an ugly word. the reason i am wondering is that if kybosh is in fact KYBOSH, then what do the S and H stand for? shit head? sort of an ugly turn to an otherwise medical-sounding and benevolent advisory acronym, I think.

Excellent question, that I've been wondering about for a while but never looked up. Looking online I find this column that says we don't know for sure (theories that it's Yiddish or Gaelic in origin have been rejected), but it originated in England in the middle 1800s.
Here's another column about the origin. The question about kibosh is the third one down the page; lots of other interesting stuff on that page too...
hmm.. it's interesting how the one article presents all the possible explanations as sort of equally unlikely, while the other one tries to make it sound like it's come to a conclusion.
i'm glad that it has nothing to do with KYBO.
hahaha. "bowels is just such an ugly word". hahaha i'm not sure if its the word that's the problem :p
hahaha... probably you're right
