soooo tired....

today was the first day of a hip hop special event at the school. 5 days of fairly intensive hip hop dance training and mentoring for the kids. i decided to join the sessions instead of planning time - it is so much fun. i'm going to be sore by the end of it, though.

it's three weeks since the puppies were born, and fiona has moved them out of the cardboard box and into the larger doghouse area. i wonder how she did it... dogs don't carry puppies in their mouths the way cats do. probably she just lay down on the edge of the box to break it down, and then nudged them over the wall, one by one. fi's taken to preferring her meals outdoors again, as opposed to coming inside to chill with me.

another dog story is that nalu followed me to the grocery store this evening. she was so good - she stayed right with me, and crawled under the steps of the store while i went inside. when i came out, i just called her and she wiggled out and walked me home. it was the strangest thing. she has uncanny car sense, too. she walks to the edge of the road, looks both ways, and then crosses. back in k-town, i remember one time she got away from me, and she took off down the driveway towards a very busy street, stopped sharp at the road and turned 90 degrees to run up the sidewalk. she's almost more controllable offleash.

i'm really getting a kick out of this hip hop thing. i'll tell more about it tomorrow.

ps hilarious spider video here

a) I want to see your hip hop dance moves. Did they bring in outsiders to teach it, or is it people from town?

b)Found this anti-alcoholism PSA comic meant for Inuit, made by the Canadian govt:
http://www.ep.tc/problems/thirteen/index.html

It's the adventures of Captain Al Cohol, a superhero.

Meant to add: it's from 1973. Front cover is page 4 on that site.

The storyline: a white blonde superpowered alien -- who loves tea -- wrecks town with his superstrength, so the townspeople kick him out. Then he's captured by dastardly Inuit rumrunners. To rescue a little Inuit boy ("manfully"), Captain Al beats back the power of alcohol and returns to the town. Then we learn more about his backstory, not about the townspeople.

"Leaping honeybuckets!" is one of the exclamations. Well worth a read.

Also, the ad on Page 24 is quite remarkable. An Inuit muscle man heroically kicks alcoholism, and has a skinny white blonde wife.

hmm... the comic sounds.... interesting. i'll check it out sometime when i want to be reminded of all the stupid things the can. gov't has done.

the hip hop group is from the south, which gives them enormous credibility that being local wouldn't. it's awesome to see the kids get into it. the group promised to teach them breakdancing moves, too... spinning on their backs and stuff.

ya girl... you better bust a move this summer. i'll definately have to follow your lead.

it's been -30 here all week and the lake looks like it's melting after snowmobilers go by. do the skidooers keep you up at night?

i think your imaginations are exaggerating my abilities.

we shall see... hip hop isn't something you can do just all by yourself. i'd feel like a tool.

it's funny that you mentioned the skidooers, mel, because last night i almost called the cops to come do a patrol in my neighbourhood. the skidooers must have been going 80kph! sounded like a chainsaw on crack.
