twilight zone

i had a great title pop into my head on the way home today, but then it popped out again.

teachers of the world are united right now in pre-christmas agony. i had a headache that nearly cracked my skull in two by the end of classes today. a good nap took a chunk out of it, happily. still, i think i need some of those pills that stop irritability.

sunrise: 9h51
sunset: 12h44
total: 2h53 of daylight

i have to say, the meaning of daylight has changed for me over the past couple of months. i wonder now if it would be better if it just stayed dark all the time, because this twilight is torturous. i'd say it never gets any bright than dusk. i feel half-asleep all the time, but i also feel like i'm staying up all night, every night. this morning i walked to school by the light of orange streetlamps in the pre-dawn blue. when i came out at lunch, the light was already in decline. it helps for things like demonstrating to the art classes that, actually, snow is not really white. here & now, it is always blue. in the spring, if such a thing does really exist :P, the sun will turn it pink and yellow and the northern lights turn it green.

Should be great aurorae for you tonight, if your sky's clear!
Solar flares today expected to cause aurorae farther south than usual
