blogger still won't let me upload pictures, and i so want to show you the fantastic lemon meringue pie that i made for my birthday. yes, it's out... i'm 29 now. holy shit.

people responded in a negative way to me baking my own birthday pie. i wanted pie. i wanted to bake. so i baked my pie. i probably still would have done it even if it wasn't a birthday pie. and further, it isn't lame to prepare your own celebration. just like it isn't lame to buy yourself flowers. if you want something, it's ok to go and get it. so there. get used to it. i'm always going to be someone who buys myself flowers and bakes my own pies if i feel like it.
i'm not opposed to other people buying me flowers or baking me pies, either.
so it was a good day. it started rough... we got to the bottom of the water tank, and halfway through my shower the dirt in the water was making my eyes burn. at school, i discovered a classroom turned upside down by a presentation, but i found shoving tables around in an angry fashion to be liberating. and then i decided that was enough bad mood for my birthday, and i did what i've been doing for a few months now: i determined to have a fucking good day.
and i did. i invited some folks over for a dessert buffet (pie, cake, ice cream sundaes) and spontaneously baked some langues de chat. Good times.

i concur. there's NOTHING wrong with baking yourself a birthday pie. especially because you're in the artic and melissa is here. hahaaha. notice that i didn't say "i'm here"?!? believe me, you want melissa's baking.
I concure with the whole baking your own cake is important and very healthy too....
I am sure that your pie was fantastic, I am really not great at pastery.
