here's a thought: i accept that a person's disposition is a better predictor of their happiness than the events of their life. i read in one of my books recently that, in general, people's mood return to a certain set point within a few weeks of any major life event, for good or for evil. i think in general it is true. there are obvious exceptions, i think, like ongoing unemployment or illness. but yeah... my bad mood of this week has lifted thanks to a good night's sleep. so simple.
if i made a list of the things i need to be reasonably happy, it would be very short and boring. what is surprising is that there are not-infrequent times when i don't meet that bare minimum of conditions.
i am making my way through the CDs lovingly burned for me by the Krazy Kingston Trio (with cowkitty). i am the proud possessor of a collection of Anti-Love Songs, Etc. i caught myself singing one song out loud during my (supposed to be) grade 12 computer class, which no one showed up for... "i-i-i-i-i-i ain't got nobo-o-o-oo-o-ody...". it just was so perfectly apt that I started laughing out loud all by myself. is it possible that i'm cracking up?
If i had the chance i'd ask the world to dance.
