i don't feel threatened. he isn't dangerous. he's just creepy.
amid the cheerful chaos of my day, i found the time to become angered by the creepy janitor.
he touched my ribs. my ribs are very close to my breasts, which are parts of me recognized to be sexual. i lost my patience and spoke to my admin. my admin suggested that i handle it myself, that it would cause less of a kafuffle than if the admin stepped into the situation.
i take issue to many parts of the situation. first, i shouldn't have to suffer the unwanted attentions of a creepy older man. second, i shouldn't have to be the one to tell him to knock it off! third, i hate that i feel like i'm being an oversensitive feminist type because i'm offended by creep's behaviour. i hate that the admin told to try to handle it myself first; this has been going on for months! if i felt comfortable saying something, i would have said it months ago.
here's another thing - it's not just me. he's inappropriate in his behaviour towards all the younger female staff. i'm now actively avoiding him. the only reason he got close enough to me today to touch me is that he cornered me in the supply closet. but he follows me into my classroom on my prep, and just sits and stares at me, or sits on the arm of the chair i'm sitting in, and i can't get any work done.
i'm going to go round two with the admin tomorrow. this is unacceptable.

you go girl!
you should not have to take that... and yes, your admin should be looking after your safety. Will any of the other women staff speak up as well?
so I hear bits and peices about how you are doing from Les... but it would be nice to hear from you as well. how is your new house mate working out? and the other new staff? How are the dogs? And If you want to talk about it... I am curious to know how your last few days in Ontario were.
be in touch...
Yeah, that's really not okay. (I know you know this, just saying I agree)
