NOBODY is recognizing me. i've got to take a picture of my new hair. you can try imagining if you like: dude bleached out the blue (green?) completely, so those chunks are whitewhitewhite. and then he put in some really strong highlights to sort of blend the white chunks in. so it looks totally different. also, i'm wearing my glasses a lot because it's so dry and my eyes are bugging me. so most people are just walking past me the first time they see me, and then clueing in after that it's me. sometimes they don't know it's me until we've talked for a few minutes. it's awesome and hilarious. i love it!!!

I'm glad you made it up there safe, and glad you have cool hair still. :) Kate visited here with Cleo, just for a day, but still good to get a reminder of life among other people. School here is ok so far, students very unresponsive, but hopefully warming up as the semester goes. They are VERY conservative. Like, I said "well, okay, one proposal that nobody would accept is: let's create peace in the middle east by just killing everybody who lives there. So, We must all have reasons for rejecting this proposal, what are they?" And some of the students were looking around like "hey, that sounds like a pretty good idea". Shudder.
