I hear we are in the news some, being condemned for the environmental faux-pas of dumping shit in the ocean. I've heard some interesting ideas for temporary stop-gap solutions, including that we should fly in PVC and glue and rig every house with a grey-water (sink and shower) pipe and let it flow down the hill, letting only real nasty stuff accumulate in the tank. Not a bad idea for the older houses with access to the plumbing, but then you have to wonder what effect that extra water would have on our rapidly dissolving earth... Too bad we've barely had a plane land since this all started. First we had high winds, then fog.
The bridges are both still defying gravity in spite of non-stop rain for the last 24 hours. However, when we were down there just now, additional caution tape has been strung along several areas because the river course has diverted underneath large areas of land. There will be large areas of sink-hole soon.
I've dropped my 6-month-old laptop and now the screen is wonky. it's like a baby that can't really hold up its head very well.
They have finally rigged a water pipe from the reservoir across the river and water deliveries have been returned to near-normal. Sewage is still being dumped in the fjord. We are back to school tomorrow, in time for one day of exam preparation before exams start next week.
