Watching an expert do something is always a treat - they make it look so easy!
On Thursday of Spring Camp, I opted to stay back from the fishing excursion. It was rainy and gross out, but also I'd gotten pretty wet and cold at the floe edge on Wednesday, and wanted to dry my boots. Back at camp, the ladies were showing how to clean a seal skin and how to use an ulu to cut meat and fish for drying.
My own attempt to clean a skin went considerably less well. hahaha!! I was totally and completely ineffectual in my first attempt - not a bit of blubber was separated from the skin. My second attempt, after a bit more indepth, unilingual instruction, was much better. I actually managed to clear about a third of a skin. Hard!!!
