my house smells like gingerbread! YUM! frickin' yum!
my project, amidst the chaos of pre-Christmas hoop-lah and fundraising, is to build a gingerbread house. i think i might have done one once before in my life, but i don't really remember. in any case, i mixed the dough on monday, baked on wednesday and i am expecting to assemble on sunday. i will keep you updated with pics and smell-o-grams.
i mentioned insane amounts of fundraising, right? our leadership group is catering the christmas banquet for the hamlet on saturday, as well as helping with the prep for the fisheries banquet tonight. there was also a career fair today. so it's been, and will continue to be, an organizational nightmare. i'll be cooking turkeys at the school tomorrow, rushing down to the kitchen to baste between classes. we'll chop everything and bake the desserts in the evening. i fully expect to be at the school from 8 to 10 tomorrow. blech. it's fun though, too. i really enjoy having times to hang out with the students and not have to tell them what to do.
any prospective teachers, hear this: time spent with students outside the classroom will make the hours in the classroom much more productive. it has been a tense year, with many new rules and stringent (for us) consequences... joking with the kids after hours will help.
