snap

something happened today to make me doubt myself. i have said for the past two years that i am here because i like my job, because it really is enough to keep me going for now. i sort of still think that is true. but something happened today to make me like my job less, and i'm hoping it is only temporary.

i took a long walk in the hills after work to clear my head, and now i think i can face the school tomorrow. it is beautiful up there. a few hundred metres up, the tundra is beginning to freeze and the small waterfalls are surrounded by icicles. there's something spectacular about the bits of arctic cotton that glow in the sun when the rest of the tundra is already in darkness. i don't mind seeing snow up there, although it startled me this morning when i opened the door to put the dogs out and found a couple inches of fresh powder covering everything. i don't think i'm ready for snow yet, although i'm excited to get out on my board and try the dogs in their harnesses.

i should have some pics of yesterday's hike up the mountain for you soon.

Heya!
I'm glad to see you're updating again. Sorry/curious to hear about the bad school thing.

Did you end up going to the Wolfe Island festival? I wish we had been able to come up for that. (Basically for us - routine end of summer family visits etc; tried to buy a couple of houses but got shot down, so still looking; been in school about a month, things pretty quiet.)

Do you have the same housemate as last year?

I passed along some of your info+pics about the bridge collapse to my friend here who's teaching enviromental science.
