did i tell you about how i calibrate my thermometer up here? keep in mind that this is just temperature, no wind chill added.

0 to -8 is nice,
-9 to -14 is fresh,
-15 to -22 is chilly,
-23 to -28 is cold,
-29 to -33 is really cold,
-34 to -38 is effing cold,
-39 and beyond is fucking cold.

it's been fucking cold here for a couple of days now. thankfully it has been calm, no wind. adding windchill would mean that i'd have to wear goggles to walk to school or risk frostbite on my eyelids. the elementary school was closed today because they didn't want the kids to walk in these temperatures. even some of the high school kids (the ones too cool to bundle up) got some wicked frostbite. i've seen several blackened chunks of skin on noses, cheeks and ears. the thing with frostbite is that it is very painful. i once got two very small areas of frostbite on my ears, and they burned for about hours until the frozen skin finally died and then peeled off. it's gross. smells bad, too.
